The outer layer of the eyeball is a tough white opaque membrane called the sclera the white of the eye.

Internal anatomy of the eye. Structure of the eye. Bony cavity within the skull that houses the eye and its associated structures muscles of the eye eyelid periorbital fat lacrimal apparatus Bones of the orbit. The light-sensitive nerve layer that lines the inside of the back of the eye.

The orbit is the bony eye socket of the skull. There are six extraocular muscles that control eye movements. The inner layer of the eyeball and contains the optic portion and non-visual retina.

Cornea - The cornea is the clear dome-like structure on the front part of the eyeThe cornea delivers 23 of the refracting power to the eye. There are 6 sets of muscles attached to outer surface of eye ball which helps to rotate it in different direction. Tears lubricate the eye and are made up of three layers.

The retina senses light and creates impulses that are sent through the optic nerve to the brain. One-third is produced by the internal crystalline lens. Much like a camera lens the cornea helps to focus light coming into the eye onto the retina.

It is the innermost layer of the eye. The central artery supplies the retina while the central vein drains the retina. The ophthalmic artery has numerous branches that supply the muscles that move the eye and surround the eye the eyelid and the eyeball itself.

Maxilla zygomatic bone frontal bone ethmoid bone lacrimal bone sphenoid bone and palatine bone. The eye is supplied by the ophthalmic artery which is the first branch of the internal carotid artery when it has travelled passed the cavernous sinus. The orbit is formed by the cheekbone the forehead the temple and the side of the nose.

These three layers together are called the tear film. The internal components of an eye are. Conjunctiva - The conjunctiva is a mucus membrane that covers the surface of the eye and the inner part of the eyelids.

The eyes sit in bony cavities called the orbits in the skull. The eyelids are supplied by a robust and complex system of vessels that arise from both the external and internal carotid artery systems. It is light sensitive and acts as a film of a camera.

In the diagram above - anatomy of the eye the artery is shown in red while the vein is shown in blue. In the middle of the iris there is a small opening called the pupil. The front visible part of the eye is made up of the whitish sclera a coloured iris and the pupil.

Its pigment is a form of melanin. The Choriod is modified to form the Iris and the Ciliary Body at the front of the eye. Layer containing blood vessels that lines the back of the eye and is located between the retina the inner light-sensitive layer and the sclera the outer white eye wall.

The layers of the tear film keep the front of the eye lubricated. It is a transparent biconvex lens of an eye. It gives the eye two-thirds of its focusing or refracting power.

The shape of the lens is changed by the ciliary muscle which enables the eye to focus light from objects at varying distances from the eye. The cornea is the transparent dome-like structure on the front part of the eye. The iris a diaphragm is the portion of the eye that gives your eye its color.

In addition to the eyeball itself the orbit contains the muscles that move the eye blood vessels and nerves. Sclera - The sclera is the white tough outer covering of globe of the eye. The central artery and vein runs through the center of the optic nerve.

The iris controls the amount of light entering the eye by altering the diameter of the pupil. Black-pigmented layer under the Sclera that prevents the internal reflection of light rays. The eye has three main layers.

Just in front of the lens is the circular iris the col-ored part of the eye. The eye is cushioned within the orbit by pads of fat. The eye is shaped like a round ball with a slight bulge at the front.

The optic portion is further divided into two layers known as the neural layer and pigment cell layer. The eye is the photo-receptor organ. These layers lie flat against each other and form the eyeball.

Anatomy of the Eye. Structure containing muscle and is located behind the iris which focuses the lens. A thin layer called the conjunctiva sits on top of this.

It is situated on an orbit of skull and is supplied by optic nerve. Eyelid vascular anatomy left eye. Which contains the blood vessels of the eye becomes a disk-like structure called the iris.

The opening in the middle of the iris through which light passes to the back of the eye. Eye Anatomy and Function. The lens is attached to the ciliary body by ligaments.

The optic portion is further divided into two layers known as the neural layer and pigment cell layer. Filled with blood capillaries It is rich in blood vessels that bring oxygen and nutrients to nourish the eyeball. The lens along with cornea refracts light so that it focuses on the retina.
